120 Years of Innovation and Inspiration: The FIA partners with Rwanda’s Ministry of Youth and Arts to inspire local artists

FIA newsThe FIA Awards are one of sport’s most anticipated events, and this year, artists from across Rwanda will be able to compete for a chance to attend the glittering occasion.

Hosted in Kigali, Rwanda for 2024, the FIA Awards are a memorable and spectacular evening that recognises and honours the top drivers, manufacturers, and teams from across the FIA championships.

In the FIA’s 120th anniversary year, the FIA will celebrate ‘120 Years of Legends’ and will see today’s brightest stars joined by many of motor sports most renowned personalities, coming together to celebrate achievements past and present.

In partnership with Rwanda’s Ministry of Youth and Arts, Rwandan artists who are studying on courses verified by verified by the Rwanda TVET Board, Rwanda Polytechnic and University of Rwanda’s College of Science and Technology, are invited to be inspired by the FIA’s historic 120 year anniversary, creating a work that evokes this momentous occasion.

The winner, and second and third runners up, will receive a cash prize, with the first place creation having the honour of their work being showcased during the Awards and then being housed within the FIA’s iconic headquarters in the Place de la Concorde in Paris, France. The winner, along with a guest, will also be invited to attend the FIA Awards taking place in Kigali on 13 December 2024.

  • Prize 1: 3,000,000 FRW
  • Prize 2: 2,000,000 FRW
  • Prize 3: 1,500,000 FRW

Artworks must be submitted for judging by Wednesday 27th November. All creations must be a physical work of art such as a painting or sculpture and submitted with a title and written description of the inspiration behind the work.

FIA President, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, said: “I’m greatly looking forward to seeing how these talented artists interpret the FIA’s 120-year history to create inspiring and beautiful works.

The FIA Awards are our moment of celebration where we recognise the hard work and successes of our sport, and I look forward to welcoming another winner here on the night.”

Rwanda’s Minister of State for Youth and Arts, Sandrine Umutoni, said: “We are delighted to welcome the FIA to Kigali this December for such a momentous occasion, and encourage our esteemed students from across the country to enter this competition, which will showcase their creativity, at a global stage.”
