Congonhas Airport will have an exclusive area for boarding app cars | Estadão Mobility |

The City of São Paulo determined that Congonhas Airport defines an Application Embarkation Zone (ZEA). The location will be a boarding point for passengers using services such as Uber and 99. The resolution was issued in the city’s Official Gazette last Friday (June 10) and should come into force within a month.

In October last year, the Executive Secretariat for Transport and Urban Mobility (SETRAM) had already opened a public consultation on the topic. The objective was to “discipline the boarding of passengers in application vehicles at Congonhas Airport”.

At the time, SETRAM stated that “app and taxi cars end up occupying the same access areas to pick up people disembarking from flights”, a practice that continues to this day.

Finally, travelers arriving at Congonhas airport can continue to disembark at the same points previously authorized.

Where will the Application Boarding Zone be located at Congonhas Airport?

According to the city hall: “The space will be suggested by the concessionaire and will require approval and signage from the traffic authorities to begin operations.” Therefore, it is up to the administration of Congonhas airport to define the location.

Finally, the Public Authority also determines that “inspection of the service of app car operators on site will be the responsibility of the Department of Public Transport (DTP)”. Failure to comply with the rules and parking in an incorrect area may result in a fine for the driver.
