Yamaha surprised by announcing the launch of Neo’s in the Brazilian market, during the announcement of its news 2025. The electric scooter will be produced by Yamaha at its factory in Manaus (AM) and will begin to be sold at the beginning of next year.

Yamaha is the first major motorcycle manufacturer to produce an electric model in the country. Smaller brands, such as Watts, already assemble electric motorcycles in the capital of Amazonas.

Launched in Europe in 2022, Neo’s has a minimalist design, with two quadrangular-shaped LED headlights. The model is part of Yamaha’s strategy to reduce its environmental impact. Together with Neo’s, the Japanese brand also launched e-bikes on the European market.

What is the Yamaha electric scooter like?

With an urban proposal, Neo’s has an electric motor installed directly on the rear axle. Yamaha’s electric scooter has 2.5 kW of maximum power, or about 3.4 hp. Its performance is equivalent to that of a moped, or “fifteen”. Therefore, the driver will need to have a CNH, category A, or Authorization to Drive a Moped (ACC). The maximum speed of the electric scooter is 45 km/h.

Neo’s comes with two lead acid batteries with 50.4 V and 23.2 Ah maximum capacity. Removable, the batteries together offer a range of around 70 kilometers.

The batteries are stored under the seat. The driver can choose whether to carry one or two batteries. If you choose just one, the space will accommodate a full-face helmet. If you take both, the load capacity is compromised.

According to Yamaha, it is possible to recharge the batteries on the scooter itself or remove them and charge from a common socket. The time to recharge from 0 to 100% is new time; To recharge from 20% to 80% it takes five hours.

Another highlight is the panel, fully digital and connected. In addition to the speedometer, clock and odometers, the LCD screen informs you of the battery charge and the ECO riding mode.

Yamaha, however, has not yet revealed the price of the Neo’s. In Germany, the Yamaha electric scooter costs 3,099 Euros, the equivalent of R$18,980. In addition to being sold at dealerships, the Yamaha electric scooter is also part of a subscription plan, which includes access to battery exchange stations in the capital Berlin.
