FIA Event in Kigali

The Brazilian Automobile Club (ACBr) reaffirmed its leadership on the international stage by participating in the Region 4 meetings of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and the organization’s General Assembly, held in Kigali, Rwanda. Represented by Dr. Humberto Kennedy, the club’s  vice president ACBr made its mark at an event that brought together top global leaders in the mobility and automotive sectors to discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of the industry.

The Event in Kigali: A Platform for Global Collaboration

Under the theme “Empowering Our Community,” the FIA organized a series of meetings aimed at addressing crucial issues in the mobility sector. In addition to discussions on sustainability, road safety, and accessibility, the event also provided a platform for members to share best practices.

The FIA Region 4 meetings played a central role in the agenda, bringing together representatives from automobile clubs in Latin America and the Caribbean. This forum serves as a privileged space for aligning regional strategies to tackle common challenges and strengthen sustainable mobility initiatives across the region.

The FIA General Assembly, held concurrently, gathered leaders from all over the world. During the event, participants discussed technological advancements, initiatives to transition to greener and more inclusive mobility, and policies promoting road safety on a global scale.

The Participation of the Brazilian Automobile Club

Dr. Humberto Kennedy, vice-director of the Brazilian Automobile Club, played an active role in the discussions. His presence represented not only Brazil’s interests but also a commitment to the global values championed by the FIA. He offered valuable insights into how Region 4 countries can collaborate to overcome shared challenges, such as improving road infrastructure, promoting sustainable technologies, and enhancing driver education.

ACBr also showcased nationally significant projects that could serve as models for other countries. These include road safety education initiatives, vehicle inspection programs, and public awareness campaigns on traffic safety. The exchange of experiences during the event was instrumental in enriching these initiatives with valuable insights that could be adapted to Brazil’s context.

Sustainable Mobility and Road Safety: Key Topics of Discussion

Two main themes dominated the discussions at the FIA meetings in Kigali: sustainable mobility and road safety. Both are cornerstones of the organization’s global directives and are also central to the actions of the Brazilian Automobile Club.

Sustainable Mobility

The transition to greener mobility is a global challenge. During the event, advancements in the adoption of electric vehicles, investments in public transportation infrastructure, and incentives for using renewable energy were presented. ACBr highlighted the potential for adapting these solutions to Brazil, taking into account the country’s continental size and diversified energy sources

Road Safety

Road safety was another extensively discussed topic, with an emphasis on reducing traffic accident rates. Brazil, as one of the countries with high road traffic mortality rates, stands to benefit significantly from the FIA’s initiatives in this area. During the event, innovative solutions were shared, ranging from educational campaigns to technologies such as sensors and vehicle monitoring systems.

Conclusion

The participation of the Brazilian Automobile Club in the FIA General Assembly and Region 4 meetings in Kigali marks a significant milestone for the institution and the country. The event not only consolidated ACBr’s role as a key player on the international stage but also opened new avenues for regional and global collaboration.

Looking ahead, ACBr continues its mission to transform mobility in Brazil, contributing to safer, more efficient, and more sustainable traffic for everyone. The next step is to translate the ideas discussed in Kigali into concrete actions that positively impact the lives of Brazilians.
