Final week for Elite MotorSport Academy of New Zealand applications

2 min read

There is just one week left for applications to the 2024 Elite MotorSport Academy of New Zealand. Young Kiwi competitors who hold all types of competition licences with MotorSport New Zealand and its affiliates are encouraged to put their names forward for the renowned elite training academy.

International stars such as recent Bathurst 1000 champions Shane van Gisbergen and Richie Stanaway are among the drivers to have benefited from the academy. Hayden Paddon, Brendon Hartley, Earl Bamber, Nick Cassidy, Mitch Evans, and Andre Heimgartner are also part of the over 160 graduates who have all graduated from the academy.

Designed to equally benefit those who compete in Race, Rally, ClubSport, and KartSport disciplines, the academy program sees multiple participants take part in a week-long camp at the Otago Academy of Sport. At the camp, they are given intensive courses in fitness, nutrition, media, sponsorship, and mental performance.

Each participant then receives a personalised 12-month program where they continue to work with providers of the academy to further their development.

MotorSport New Zealand President and trustee of the Scholarship Trust, Wayne Christie, encourages all young competitors who aspire to reach the upper echelons of the sport not to miss out on the opportunity before them.

“The Elite MotorSport Academy of New Zealand is an incredible opportunity for our young competitors that is almost unrivaled across the world,” said Christie.

“We really want to see as many competitors as possible vie for a spot in the academy. The program is world-class, the graduate’s achievements speak for themselves. This is a chance to boost your career that you cannot miss.”

The 2024 edition of the academy camp will take place in Dunedin from 7-13 July 2024. More information and the application form can be found at www.motorsport.org.nz/elite-motorsport-academy. Applications will close on 11 March 2024.
