The new delivery vehicle on the road in London is somewhere between an electric mini truck, a tricycle and a quadricycle. The ePack, built by the startup Cityshuttle, has six wheels, pedal assistance and can carry up to 350 kg in the rear.

The ePack’s main similarity with a truck is its articulated shape with a body. At the same time, the vehicle has the maximum proportions to travel on cycle paths, like a large quad bike. “At just 900 mm wide, the ePack is suitable for pedestrian zones and can travel through areas that traditional vehicles cannot,” they say.

According to the company, the model is the ideal alternative to avoid traffic and carbon emissions in large delivery volumes. According to research by EIT InnoEnergy, a company that processes 2 billion orders annually could save up to 0.55 billion euros by 2030 and 80% of its emissions by upgrading vehicles to electrified models.

The vehicle’s attached trailer can handle a cargo volume of 4,000 liters and a maximum payload weight of 350 kg. To assist the driver, the rider’s pedaling power is increased by two 250-watt motors in the rear wheels of the main unit.

With this equipment, the ePack can reach a maximum speed of 25 km/h, depending on factors such as terrain and load weight. The quick-change lithium battery charge has a range of between 60 and 100 km, according to the company.

Other features include an LED lighting system with turn signals, a security camera and an alarm inside the trailer. The vehicle also has two QLED screens integrated into the sides. For now, according to the startup, the vehicle is only being rented to companies.
