Mobility at the São Paulo Formula 1 Grand Prix: An Innovative Initiative of Partnership and Strategic Planning with the Participation of Both FIA Divisions in Perfect Synergy

The Automóvel Clube Brasileiro (ACBr-FIA) celebrates the joint effort and strategic planning undertaken to support mobility during the São Paulo Formula 1 Grand Prix. In a significant meeting, which brought together key representatives of mobility and motorsport institutions, strategies were defined to ensure effective and inclusive access to the event, promoting a safe and comfortable experience for the public.

Present at the meeting were Dr. Humberto Kennedy, Vice President of ACBr-FIA, with a focus on urban mobility; Dr. Giovanni Guerra, President of the Brazilian Automobile Confederation (CBA-FIA); and Delegate Dr. Luanda Guerra, representing the interests of Brazilian motorsport. Also participating were Dr. Frederico Pierotti Arantes, President of the State Traffic Council of São Paulo (CETRAN-SP), which coordinates the State Traffic System, and members of SPTrans, São Paulo’s public transportation agency.

Transportation Initiatives to Facilitate Event Access

To ensure efficient movement of spectators, SPTrans implemented a special public transportation service. Four exclusive bus lines were activated for the event, three of which provided direct routes from strategic points in the city – Congonhas Airport, SP Market Shopping Mall, and Trianon/MASP – to the Interlagos Racetrack. The fourth line operated as a circular route connecting the Autódromo Station of the Line 9-Emerald to various access points around the venue.

To enhance accessibility for thousands of spectators, SPTrans also launched the Atende+ service, a free specialized transportation option for people with disabilities. This service ensured comfortable and safe transportation for spectators requiring special attention, reaffirming the authorities’ commitment to accessibility.

During the Grand Prix days, the city’s transportation system was adjusted to handle the high flow of attendees, including modifications to regular routes. These measures aimed to minimize disruptions in the vicinity of the racetrack and improve mobility in the area. The initiative highlighted public transportation as an efficient and sustainable alternative, encouraging the public to adopt practices that promote urban mobility while reducing environmental impacts.

With these actions, the São Paulo Formula 1 Grand Prix reaffirmed the commitment of authorities and related entities to inclusion, safety, and sustainability, offering a positive experience not only for motorsport fans but also for the city as a whole. The event thus stands as a model of how major spectacles can integrate strategic planning, innovation, and social responsibility.
