To attend the test next year, it is a good idea to plan in advance. There are many online sources with great tips and tricks to avoid travel hassles. Check out some important tips below:

The schedule for the first stages of the Tour de France 2025 has already been released. The race will start on July 5, 2025 and will run through the north of the country. You can follow all the steps or choose some. The suggestion is to select at least one that highlights the mountains, to see the performance of climbing cyclists up close, and another that is flatter, perfect for sprinters. From this itinerary, start renting the motorhome. Look for reputable rental companies and, even so, check with a magnifying glass any complaints that may have been posted regarding services and support promised, but not provided.

To travel by motorhome in Europe, a category B driver’s license is useful (as long as the vehicle weighs no more than 3.5 tonnes) or a category C license, for larger ones. For drivers under 25, a young driver fee is common. The maximum age is usually defined by rental companies.

Do not leave Brazil without insurance, preferably a premium one, to have roadside assistance and a possible replacement vehicle.

The mileage package defines how far you can travel per day for a fixed price. If you don’t want this tie-in, opt for unlimited mileage — more expensive, obviously.

It is important to remember that the motorhome is a vehicle of considerable size, which requires care on narrow and tortuous roads, which are very common on the Tour. In cities, especially the more touristy ones, it may not be easy to park in parking lots, which purposely limit the height at the entrance.

There is a time when the roads are closed to Tour cyclists, which is previously announced through apps and advertisements on the roads themselves. On the busiest routes, it is worth arriving the day before.

Book campsites in advance on your chosen route, and not just for safety reasons. They will be needed to replenish water and energy. Take advantage of the local bathroom to empty the sewage tank, that is, the waste box. And also to empty the gray water tank, the one used in sinks and during showers.

Pay attention to the gas cylinder. It needs to be turned off before starting the vehicle and, depending on the expected consumption, it is recommended to include another cylinder in the optional extras package. These extras, in fact, include bed and bath linen, barbecue, baby seat and biodigester tablets to throw in the toilet, which decompose waste and allow for a more pleasant fragrance not only in the bathroom but throughout the vehicle.

It’s interesting to rent chairs and a small table to have a snack while waiting for the squads or even to socialize on the road or at campsites. Some rental companies also offer separate rental of folding bicycles, which can be transported in the luggage compartment of the motorhome, but take up a little space in suitcases. Certain models allow bikes to be loaded on a rack at the rear of the vehicle. In any case, don’t rule out the “skinny” ones. It is quite possible that the desire to reproduce the route celebrated by great names in road cycling, such as the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar, three-time Tour de France champion (he won the competition in 2020, 2021 and 2024) and the Danish Jonas Vingegaard, two-time champion of the race (he won in 2022 and 2023), but on a mortal scale.
