WEC: Kobayashi claims Toyota’s first pole of the season at Interlagos

The 37-year-old set a sensational lap of 1:23.140s to head stablemate Sébastien Buemi in #8 Toyota Gazoo Racing entry by 0.122s. Japanese driver claims the first pole position of the season for Toyota.

Matt Campbell aboard the #5 Porsche Penske Motorsport was the highest placed Porsche 963 owing to a best of 1:23.331. The Australian had a brief off on his warm-up lap but still qualified on the second row of the grid.

Cadillac V-Series.R driven by Alex Lynn placed fourth on a 1:23.396s lap to get in among the Toyota and Porsches.

The #6 Porsche Penske Motorsport of Kévin Estre is fifth ahead of recent Le Mans winner Antonio Fuoco in the #50 Ferrari AF Corse 499P Hypercar.

BOVY BEATS OPPOSITION TO SECURE SECOND POLE THIS SEASON
Iron Dames-entered Lamborghini Huracan driven by Sarah Bovy took the LMGT3 pole position with a lap of 1:34.413s to secure the second qualifying triumph of the season for the all-female crew.

The time bettered the effort of the #92 Manthey PureRxcing Porsche 911 RSR LMGT3 driven by Aliaksandr Malykhin by a healthy margin of 0.391s.

United Autosports’ #95 McLaren was third driven by Joshua Caygill who finished ahead of the second of the McLarens driven by James Cottingham.

Fifth was the championship-leading #91 Manthey EMA Porsche with Yasser Shahin behind the wheel.
