Company launches subscription to high-performance bikes, costing up to R$15,000 | Estadão Mobility | Pedal
2 min readABe Bike, a Minas Gerais company based in Belo Horizonte, has been operating, since 2022, in the format of high-performance bicycle subscriptions from various brands. According to the company, these are bikes that cost between R$3,000 and R$15,000 when purchased, but in the subscription system they can cost R$89 per month.

The prices for subscription bikes vary according to the model and plan chosen, with preventive maintenance and Porto Seguro protection included. In addition to its headquarters in Belo Horizonte, the company has partners in the cities of Nova Lima and Conselheiro Lafaiete, both in Minas Gerais.
Audience profiles
Brunno Montolli, advisor at Be Bike and specialist in new businesses, explains that the company’s main target audience are people looking for leisure (and prefer models such as mountain and electric bikes), as well as those who do triathlon training and prefer Road models.
In addition, he says, the company also records great demand for electric bikes and general demand for delivery drivers.
According to Montolli, the idea of creating the bicycle subscription company came from Eric Nahum and Rodrigo Belles, two of the founding partners of Be Bike, when they were both preparing to participate in an Iron Man, a long-distance race that combines swimming , cycling and running in a single competition.
“They were faced with the challenge that high-performance bikes are very expensive and the models vary depending on the type of race. So, renting the equipment for a competition would be an opportunity”, he explains.
However, according to Montolli, the idea was extended to other practices. In April 2023, the company also began operating under the B2B model, working in partnership with industries. “With this, we increased stock without needing to increase cash and, thus, it was possible to multiply the number of units contracted by users by eight”, he explains.
Numbers
Currently having a stock of 70 bikes for subscription, Be Bike grew 170% in the last quarter and has a renewal rate of around 23%. The portfolio includes mountain bikes, road bikes, electric bikes and even children’s models.
As plans for the future, the company plans to expand territorially in Minas Gerais and, later, to São Paulo. “We also plan to expand with a marketplace for selling our own and third-party products, such as accessories and bicycles”, concludes the consultant.
