WE ISSUE YOUR International Driving Permit all over Brazil!
IN BRAZIL, ONLY ACBr AND THE DETRANs ARE AUTHORIZED
TO ISSUE THE INTERNATIONAL DRIVING
PERMIT (PID)
In 2017, as an affiliate of the FIA, the Automóvel Clube Brasileiro (ACBr) was authorized to issue the PID in Brazil. Thus, in addition to the DETRANs, ACBr is the only Brazilian entity authorized to issue the International Driving Permit (PID), for meeting all the requirements established in Art. 9 of the SENATRAN Ordinance No. 1043 of 08/11/2022, with certification
endorsed through the SENATRAN Ordinance No. 1077, dated 11/08/2023 published in the DOU on 01/24/2024.
The PID is a printed and standardized document, established in Art. 3 of the SENATRAN Ordinance No. 1043 of 08/11/2022.
It is not a card, nor does it exist in digital format.

what is the PID?
The PID, as it is commonly known (whether as an International Driving Permit or International Driving License), is an international license with the same information as the National Driver’s License (CNH), but translated into nine languages. It allows its holder to drive in any of the over 100 signatory countries of the Convention on Road Traffic, signed in Vienna in 1968.
Is the PID really necessary?
The PID is essential when your identification as a driver is requested by local traffic authorities. The languages included are English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Russian, French, and German. Together with your national driver’s license, the PID will help you register a car, rent a vehicle, or take out insurance in more than 100 countries. Moreover, it is crucial in case of accidents and infractions.
The 180-day myth
It is very common to find online the statement that the PID is only necessary after 180 days of stay in a country that is part of the Vienna Convention. According to traffic authorities’ guidance, this statement is not true: holders of the Brazilian CNH must carry the PID whenever they drive motor vehicles in a signatory country, from the first day.
