3 min read

The holidays are coming. Do you want to travel with family or friends, but don’t want to spend a lot on parking or driving to the airport? In this case, there is a simple solution: go by train or bus to the Guarulhos’ airport.

For younger people or those traveling with few suitcases, the journey to Guarulhos Airport by bus or metro can be cheaper and more advantageous, and sometimes even faster. That’s why we created a guide with all the ways to get to Guarulhos’ three terminals without spending a lot. Check out.

Executive buses

EMTU created, on June 24th, a new express line of executive buses to Guarulhos Airport. Thus, travelers now have five route options to reach the airport terminal.

Firstly, you can use line 472, which leaves the Barra Funda Bus Terminal towards the airport. It is also possible to start the journey at the Tietê Bus Terminal, using bus 472EX1.

The bus that leaves from Barra Funda operates from 6:05 am to 9:05 pm. In turn, the vehicle that begins its journey at the Tietê Terminal starts circulating at 6:10 am and runs until 9:20 pm. On both routes, the ticket price is R$39.90.

You can also choose line 258, a bus that runs between Congonhas Airport and Guarulhos and has a ticket price of R$43.90. Along this route, the operation runs from 6:00 am to 10:30 pm.

Finally, line 316 also costs R$43.90 and runs from 6:20 am to 9:00 pm on the route called “Circuito dos Hotéis”, passing along the Hélio Smidt Highway, which gives access to the airport.

There is also the option that leaves from Guarulhos airport to Praça da República, in the center, and also costs R$43.90.

City buses

City buses can be an even cheaper option for getting to the airport. Departing from the Tatuapé metro, travelers can take line 257, between 5:10 am and 11:10 pm, any day of the week and get to the airport for just R$7.65.

If you choose to leave Guarulhos, you can choose the lines:

331 – Cecap/Airport Terminal, from 4:20 am to 00:40 am on weekdays, on Sundays from 4:20 am to 00:25 am and on Saturdays from 4:20 am to 11:45 pm

488 – Circular Aeroporto, from 4:00 am to 00:30 am on weekdays and from 4:00 am to 00:35 am on weekends

538 – Arujá/ Airport, from 4:50 am to 9:30 pm from Monday to Saturday

The bus fare in Guarulhos varies according to the payment method (cash or Citizen Card). Therefore, the value can reach up to R$5.30.

Airport Express

Between train and bus to Guarulhos Airport, the rail transport option may be the cheapest.

Two train lines take passengers to the plane terminal. The most interesting and quickest is the Airport Express, which departs from Barra Funda Station and operates every day from 5:00 am to midnight, charging just R$5.00. The journey takes around 45 minutes. The train stops at Luz and Brás stations.

Another option is Line 13-Jade, which operates from 4:00 am to midnight, and also charges R$5.00.

Both Expresso Aeroporto and Line 13-Jade have the Aeroporto-Guarulhos Station as their final stop. Then, you need to take a free bus to one of the departure terminals. The journey is quick. This option is not recommended for those who have a lot of bags to carry.

Airport People Mover

Finally, we mention a future option: the aeromobile. This vehicle, which looks like a train, will connect the three terminals at Guarulhos Airport to the Aeroporto-Guarulhos Station, which in turn already connects with Line 13-Jade and the express coming from Barra Funda.

The expectation is that this new mode will begin operating in August this year. Therefore, it will be possible to make the final journey to the airport with more practical, fast and sustainable transport.
