Italian electric scooter promises range of up to 200 km | Estadão Mobility | Motorbike, Scooters
4 min readTraditional Italian motorcycle manufacturer, Fantic is increasingly investing in electric mobility. After creating bicycles, the brand has also invested in battery-powered scooters. Launched in Italy in 2023, Issimo City now arrives in Brazil. Possible to come with two batteries, the Italian electric scooter promises an estimated range of almost 200 km.
Fantic Issimo City aims to be a sustainable mobility option for urban travel. In addition to its good autonomy, the Issimo City stands out for its low weight (79 kg without batteries) and good cycling package. Unlike other urban electric scooters, the Issimo City has 16-inch wheels, more suitable for tackling uneven floors.
Imported from Italy, the electric scooter is sold in Brazil in two colors and versions. Available in white and red options, the Issimo City with one battery costs R$39,900, and with two batteries the price rises to R$49,900.
Central engine and chain drive
With an unusual design, Issimo City also brings technical solutions that are not very common in electric scooters. Instead of being mounted directly on the rear wheel, its 3 kW engine, equivalent to 4 hp, is central. As a result, the Issimo City has a chain final drive, like conventional motorcycles. However, like other electric motorcycles, the Fantic scooter has no gears. Just accelerate and brake.

The advantage is to reduce the weight on the rear wheel, which improves the electric scooter’s maneuverability. This way there isn’t too much weight on the rear wheel and it doesn’t overload the suspension. On the other hand, it has the disadvantage of requiring lubrication.
Equipped with two riding modes – Eco and Sport – the Fantic electric scooter has good performance for urban use. The economical mode limits the speed to 45 km/h and projects a range of 200 km on the Issimo City’s digital panel. While in Sport mode, the speed reaches 70 km/h on the speedometer, but the battery life drops by half.
According to Fantic, each battery can travel almost 100 km without recharging. Therefore, in the version with two batteries the duration reaches up to 200 km, but only in Eco mode.
The battery, or batteries, can be recharged from a regular socket directly on the scooter. There is also a charger, ingeniously stored under the seat, which allows you to remove the battery to recharge in your home or office.
Bigger wheels and good brakes
Very light, 103 kg in the version evaluated with two batteries, the Issimo City has good dynamic behavior. With 16-inch wheels, larger than most electric scooters, the Fantic model demonstrates agility in traffic and conveys safety to the driver.

The suspension set, fixed to the aluminum trellis frame, uses a telescopic fork at the front and a twin-shock system at the rear. Despite the little travel (85 mm on both), they absorb imperfections on the poorly maintained São Paulo asphalt well together with the larger wheels.
Also noteworthy are the brakes. Discs on both wheels, it has an integral combined system, that is, when activating any of the levers, both brakes come into operation. I confess that I found the system even “oversized” for the performance and weight of the Issimo City. During the first braking, I was even scared, as the whole “stopped” the scooter safely.
Interesting but expensive electric scooter
Designed by a manufacturer that already has a tradition with motorcycles, the Fantic Issimo City behaves almost like a scooter, but electric. After all, Issimo gave his name to a moped, like the Caloi Mobilette, which was very successful in Italy in the 1970s.
With good dynamic behavior, the Issimo City can be an interesting mobility option. After all, the electric scooter has good autonomy and durable batteries. Although it doesn’t have the practicality of gasoline scooters, as the space under the seat ends up being occupied by batteries, the Issimo City has interesting equipment, such as a presence key and USB port. It also comes with a small luggage rack to tie down luggage or install a trunk.
However, as it is imported from Italy, the Fantic Issimo City arrives at a very high price in Brazil, which makes it a niche scooter. Just like the first electric cars, due to the small volume, the price is still high.
However, the model already shows that electric motorcycles are improving. An electric scooter with so much autonomy is a novelty. In fact, it is worth mentioning that Issimo City is licensed and requires a category “A” driver’s license to be able to drive on public roads.
Sold by the 2W Motors group, the electric scooter Fantic Issimo City It has a one-year warranty, but the batteries have a two-year warranty. The company, based in São Paulo, also represents other brands in the two-wheel sector, such as Husqvarna, Piaggio Ape tricycles and Ceat motorcycle tires.
